Lines Translated:Lines Edited:That’s right, folks. Progress has been made, the project is not dead! However, I started playing the game with my newest boyfriend (weird, I know:P) and noticing all the errors I made in tense and verbage and such.

While practicing, Christine is thinking about Remy. He recommended her for taking the audition, that’s why she will work hard so she will not disappoint him. After her first debut as opera singer.
So now, along with a ‘lines translated’ tracker, I’ve also started a ‘lines edited’ tracker. Keep in mind this progress bar is JUST for translation. This does not include the unknown amount of time it will take to fix any errors or edit any images that may need it.
Of course, starting to replay the game has rekindled my love of the characters and stories, so there IS a silver liningSo far I have all of Raoul’s and Fantome’s routes translated. I am working on Philip sand would say I’m about half done with them. Now about the errors We’re still experiencing errors when we try to save or load the game. Quick Save and Quick Load work, but straight up ‘save’ and ‘load’ cause the game to crash.Another issue we’re having involves the patching code not playing nice with google spreadsheets and google spreadsheets not allowing me to have all the lines necessary. Basically, the code will only create a patch from one spreadsheet, but the amount of dialogue in this game requires me to have 3 spreadsheets worth of translation, so the code will only patch roughly 1/3 of the game at present, even though I’ve translated much more than that. There is another error that will be rather annoying for those who do not have any Japanese knowledge.

The names of the characters are nowhere to be found in the text files that have been extracted, so they still appear in Japanese. For example, instead of Richard, it shows the text リシャール, which is the katakana spelling of Richard. It does this for every character except the main character and a few others whose names I have been able to fix (Fantome and Magician mostly). We are also having problems with the ability to name your own character.
For some reason, even though I’ve kept the call-to-action characters in every instance that the game uses them to recall the name you choose for your character at the beginning of the game, it will not work in the patch. It simply shows the call-to-action characters instead of your chosen name every time.
It’s annoying, and I don’t know what can be done. The game is still playable, but it’s annoying.A final error we are encountering is the patch creating issues in the text and dialogue once it is implemented into the game. For example, a line that I have translated as “.” may come out as.”””” or something. For some reason, quotation marks and apostrophes are causing issues in the game.
The game is still playable, so this last error will be the last to be actively worked on, and we could theoretically release the patch if this is the only error left.To address some of the most common questions I’ve been getting recently, I don’t think it makes sense to release an unfinished patch until I get all of the errors worked out. If you are really interested in helping translate, please send me an email at [email protected] and I will send you a quick ‘test’ to make sure you are up to it. If you are, then I will gladly take the help! For those who wish to hurry the project along but cannot offer their services, the only thing that will really help with that are donations.
If I get enough donations to help offset my living expenses, then I can work on the translation more instead of working to pay my bills;3Once again, I want to apologize for how long this project is taking, but it is still only me working on translation. My boyfriend has offered to help with the editing of the lines, so that’s at least something. If anyone thinks they can help with any of the errors we’re experiencing, please let me know! Creeping closer and closer to that halfway point! ? And in even better news, Falaina got back to me! He gave me the scripts he was using and said he’d still be available to help. This is great news because it not only means the project is still on, but also that I will be working with someone who already knows what’s up ^^The way the files are set up, it seems like each of the characters are broken down into their own section.
So far I’ve finished the Phantom and Raoul, and I’m working on Philip right now. Just Remy and Richard to go after this, and then it’s on to beta testing! Wish me luck;3. Got another couple percent done, here’s where we stand right now:BUT! I’m getting nervous! Still no word from Falaina, so I’ve got to find someone else to help make the actual patch for the game.
I’ve had a couple friends look at the files, but we can’t figure out how to decrypt the one that contains all the scripts. Wow, it’s been forever (again Dx) I’m sorry everyone! I have gone through some serious crap lately. I know it’s not that big of a jump from last time, not even 10%, but I like nice round (not really) fractions, so I’m excited to be 1/3 done! Unfortunately, 8% in a month and a half is nothing to brag about but times have been tough, in all senses of the word.I’m laid off over the summer, since I work at a college, so I’ve been making some art to sell at conventions, so I’ve been totally swamped with commissions and preparing to travel to cons to try to bring in at least SOME sort of income during these months.
And, of course, summer is when EVERYone wants to hang out and do stuff, so I’ve been trying to balance my working with my hanging out with friends and doing (free) stuff, making time scarce. If you wanna be awesome and signal-boost me, I’d totally appreciate it! My website is.
I make geeky stuff, lolita stuff, and cybergoth stuff lol.Another, not-so-great thing that’s been taking up my time and that I would LOVE for you guys to signal boost is thisThat is Courage, my mom’s dog. We’re not sure what’s wrong with him, but the vet says it might be neurological. If you could pleeeease signal boost his Hope Mob (It’s like Kickstarter but for causes) I would REALLY appreciate it!
This is his Hope Mob LinkAnd my FINAL excuse for being UBER busy is having been invited by the awesome DJM to stat a podcast! It’s an anime podcast where we watch a different anime every week and then do a podcast on it. We’re on episode 3, going on 4 which should be out this Sunday.
If you want to download it, it’s called Nanashi and it can be found on his websiteThat’s it for now! I’ve got soooo much more to do, but I’m still excited for hitting this major step ^^ As always, the little counter along the left sidebar shows the actual lines translated vs. Actual lines total, so that will give a more accurate view of how far I am.
Can’t wait to work more! I know I’ve been MIA for a while, so sorry for that! Real life can be a pain sometimes ? I’ve been doing many convention artist alleys with friends and actually have been working on writing my own otome-style game as well! But the good news is, my next con isn’t until the end of next month, so I will have some spare time in which to relax and translate! Also, school’s out on the 5th of May, so after then I can really get to work! However, as of right now, the text translation is 1/4 done! I set a goal to hit 25% tonight before bed and I hit it ^^ This project is sloooowly being finished, but hopefully things will pick up as I get used to my crafting schedule for cons.
Just a quick update for now, it’s 4am and I’m tired xD Nite everyone! Hello again, and soooo sorry for the delay on updates! After the new year, things kinda got crazy!
I had a death in the family, school started, and I started a whole new business, then my business partner decided to go crazy and I had to get a lawyer. When it rains it pours! But all that’s (pretty much) settled down for now, so the good news is that I’m back and I’ve got more time to translate, and will be busting my tail to do so!The bad news is, I’m not as far along as I thought I was. I got in contact with my hacker, and she told me that what I feared was true – she had only uploaded 1/3 of the script to be translated, which set my estimated percent complete wayyyy back. Instead of 35%, I’m back at 22% complete TT This is going to be a looooooong process, and I’m so sorry for getting everyone’s hopes up, including my own.The progress bar on the left is now updated with the new, correct data, so that is the one I will keep up to date every time I translate more.
I’ve changed it to the number of lines in the text documents I’ve got on hand. The good news about this is that instead of translating 1 line at a time, I’m actually translating 4 because each line I translate has 4 lines total in the document. This will, however, give a more accurate representation of where I am in the process. And with that, I’m off to do more now! Thanks again to everyone for your support!
First of all – happy new year to everyone! I hope your holiday and your year end celebrations went well.Secondly, it’s been brought to my attention that this blog is getting popular ? I never dreamed that this would happen lol. Honestly, I just thought that I would post and show a few friends so that they could keep up with my progress. But this is wonderful!I want to thank all of you – from those who showed me to the forums to ask for help, to those who helped set this whole thing in motion. And I also want to thank those who have helped make this blog popular.
It was recently mentioned on, andIf anyone has any more sites that they have seen my blog linked form, please let me know so that I can give them a thank you by posting a link to their site from mine:3As to the project itself, I spent the last couple days partying with family and friends, so I didn’t get much done. The wonderful lady who’s helping me with the patch itself is out of town, but as soon as she gets back, I’ll have an exact number of line that need to be translated so that I have a more accurate number to use in the progress bars on the site. I’m going to try to continue at a rate of 500+ lines per day until school starts on the 7th, at which point I will probably have to slow down.
Either way, I’m looking at Spring as a deadline for the release. Wish me luck! So I figure I can use this as an update blog now so that you guys have a rough idea of where I’m at. I’ve been really sick lately, so I haven’t been doing much beyond playing silly games and translating. As of right now after translating another scene, I’m at 4850 lines translated out of an estimated 30,000 lines, which puts me at about 16% completion.
When I last updated, I had just the intro translated. That was at about 700 lines, or about 2.3%. Big jump in progress!Still no fix for the bugs in the patch though. My programmer is out of town for the holidays, so that probably won’t be fixed for a while. But hey, translation won’t be done for a while either lol. My goal is to get as much done as I can by Jan 7th because that’s when I’ve got to go back to school and work, which will take up quite a bit of my time.
Wish me luck!I’ve added these nifty little progress meters to both this update and the last update. I’ve also added one to the sidebar of the blog itself. I will update the sidebar one more often than I update the blog itself, since that’s just a matter of punching in what line I’m on, so be sure to check out the progress bar in the sidebar for a more accurate report on where I’m at currently. So I busted my rear for the last week and got the intro and all its hidden scenes and such translated and patched. There are a few issues we’re having though.
One is an error that we get when we try to view the ‘memories’ section while using the patch. Another is random typos. For some reason, even though I’ve checked and double checked and I’m sure that I’m 100% NOT typo-ing, the game shows things like lack of quote marks, or double quote marks on one side and none on the other. But it’s still progress! ?In other (not so great) news, the game itself has something like 30,000 lines that need to be translated So far, I’ve done around 700 in the actual patch itself, with quite a few more if you count all the files I’ve got saved which contain translations from my playthroughs It’s gonna be a while TT.
So I’m stuck. Not on translation, that part’s easy. Translating this game is pretty fun actually.
But I’m stuck on 2 things – motivation and patching.Motivation is a hard one. I mean, it’s an otome game based on Phantom of the Opera! How can I loose motivation? Answer: Real life sucks sometimes:c It’s my first semester at a real university (instead of a community college) and the classes I have are either super hard or not challenging enough lol. My Japanese class is wayyyyyyyyy too easy, so I have to look in to testing out of it. I’m sure I’ll get back into the swing of things eventually, but as to when that will be I have no idea at this point. What I’m SURE would motivate me is finding someone to help me with the actual patch making portion of this translation project. I have no idea what I’m doing, and I feel like I’m in WAY over my head here!
I’ve put out a few feelers to a few places that said they might be able to help, but so far, nothing has been gained and countless hours have been lost. Opera za no Kaijin is proving QUITE difficult to unravel from the coding perspective. So I know it probably seems like I haven’t been doing anything, but it’s not true, I promise 😀 I’ve been working on the translation, and in a stroke of insanity, I’ve decided to run a “Let’s Play” at the same time.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, a “Let’s Play” is basically the same thing as hovering over your sibling’s shoulder while he plays a video game, except your sibling is anywhere in the world, and their shoulder is a forum. The player posts screecaps and summaries of what’s going on in the game, as well as their reactions as they play it.Let’s Plays are actually what got me into otome games in the first place lol. I read a Let’s Play of Hatoful Boyfriend and decided that I needed in on this nonsense! Hatoful lead to Tokimeki, and Tokimeki lead, somehow, to Phantom of the Opera / Opera za no Kaijin.
It doesn’t really make all that much sense, but that’s pretty par for the course as far as these games go.Also, through my Let’s Play thread, I was given important information that affects the order I planned to play these in. Apparently you can’t get any of the Phantom’s endings without first getting 1 ending from each of the other characters. Therefore, I will be going through and getting one ending each, then I will go through again and finish up the rest.I’ve not yet decided how exactly to go about posting the paths. They are FAR more in-depth than I could have imagined. Several choices affect more than just the immediate and more than just the end as well, which would make it far easier for me to patch than translate, if I had the skills, that is. Until then, if you want to watch me translate in real time, check out the forum here. Hello once again 😀 I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
I wanted to give you all a quick update on what order I plan on translating the storylines in.There are 5 gentlemen to choose from (and yes, I’m using that term VERY loosely for some of these characters lol). So, in my personal playthroughs, and thus the order that I will be translating them in, is as follows: First has got to be Raul since that’s the way that the actual book/musical ended. And face it, he’s a LOT sexier in this lol!Official Mirai-soft Description (Translated by me;3): Raoul de Chagny An empty sun: Soldier in the Navy, has a brother named Phillip.A viscount of Normandy.Met Christine at an early age. It was a pure first love.A naive young man who is dedicated wholeheartedly to his love for Christine.“It’s me, Do you remember Christine?” —Next will be the Phantom of the Opera himself, or Fantome as he is called in this game. Because let’s be honset, he’s the one 90% of players are going to want to romance, and that’s the way the book/musical should have ended in the opinion of many, many Phans lol.Official Mirai-soft Description (Translated by me;3): Phantom of the Opera: A mysterious man wearing a mask, strikes fear in the hearts of those in the Opera House. One day, he approached Christine and offered to give her singing lessons. Why is it that he never goes out in public, and yet offers to teach Christine?“You’re mine! I will not permit others to have you!” — Next is a hard choice, but I think I’ll go with Phillip. I think I’ll need something less angsty and creepy after romancing the sexy half of that face.
And what the hey? Rich boys are always nice.Official Mirai-soft Description (Translated by me;3): Philippe de Chagny Patron of the Opera House, Raul is his brother. He is the governing Earl of Normandy.Engaged to Helene, though it will be an arranged marriage. His personality does not always seem like that of an adult. He is friendly to everyone he speaks to and dresses elegantly. He stands up for things he believes are just, yet always seems calm.
“Christine is a mysterious woman. She makes my heart race.”—After Phillip I’ll be done with the blonde haired nobelmen, so I think I’ll try for the mysterious and somewhat sad Remmy. He’s always being bossed around by mean old Mr. Firman and sighing listlessly when given an order he doesn’t like. What woman doesn’t want a cute boy that she can boss around? And with a last name like Spork, I expect great things from this man 😛Official Mirai-soft Description (Translated by me;3): Remmy Spork Richard Firman’s long-time family, he is also the secretary manager of the Opera. He doesn’t speak very much, and his face is usually emotionless.Very competent in his job and completely loyal to Richard. “You are not the only disadvantaged person in this Opera House.” — Lastly, but probably not least, is Mr.
Grumpy, Richard Firman. What can I say? He’s probably insane and sadistic, so it should be fun for poor, pure Christine to try (and of course fail) to resist his grumpy charm 😛Official Mirai-soft Description (Translated by me;3): Richard Filman Hiroshi Sakura: CV New manager of the Opera House. It is easy to see how cruel he is, even upon meeting him briefly. He has no tolerance for others, especially when they get in his way.He feels that he is inherently better than everyone, and doesn’t try to hid his pride.Has also succeeded as a businessman, but is also a well-known musician.
“I suggest you do everything I say. Or else I’ll have you silenced.”.So!
While you wait for more updates from me, enjoy the opening video (WARNING! First of all – YAY! I have 3 followers 😀 I’m glad that people are actually interested in this project! That in and of itself makes it worth all the effort I’m putting into this!I just checked google and my blog is the first thing that comes up when you search Persona Phantom of the Opera translation, and I’m on page 2 for PersonA Phantom of the Opera!
I’m slowly learning SEO! XDOn the the updates!
I have a love-hate relationship with this blog theme. I love the way it’s set up and how easy it is to customize, but I hate the page navigation system! I’m sure many people don’t even SEE the tiny little navigation links at the top of the page! To make them easier to find, I’ve added the page links to the left side column.I plan to make this blog a bit more spiffy soon. I want to change that header image to something that shows the characters or something.
When I work on that, I’m also going to try to make some flashy buttons so that those links are easier to find. Because honestly, you guys are here for the translations, so shouldn’t they be easy to find?So far, I have posted the translation containing everything up to the introduction video. I can’t tell for sure, but I thin I’m somewhere around 1/2 done with my first play through. For those of you who know the Phantom of the Opera story, or the PersonA version of the Phantom of the Opera story, I’m at the point where Carlotta has received her first threatening letter. Oh yeah, she’s pissed xDAs always, and questions, comments, concerns, and suggestions can be left in comments on this blog 😀 I’m off to romance some boys – be back later xD.
